Golf

When navigating near Manzanillo, early sailors were amused by the nymphs, which they considered good omens, that would dance around their ships under a full moon. Although this magical mystery, now known to be phosphorescence, has now been solved, the enchanting charm of “Las Hadas”, Spanish for “The Fairies”, has remained intact to this very day.

Las Hadas' Golf Course, hole by hole.

Hole #1,“The Double Crossing”, par 4, 397 yds., hcp. 1. It is described as is for having the Dog-Leg on the left, a good first hit can leave the second one at approximately 120-150 yards. You must have in mind that the green is well guarded by two sand tramps, which makes this the most dificult hole in the course.

Hole #2, “The Waterfalls”, par 3, 174 yds., hcp. 11. This par 3 is one of the most spectacular holes a golfer can be challenged to, since it has a sand tramp in the middle of the green, and do not forget that the whole fairway is water! Finally, you end up with some beautiful waterfalls.

Hole #3,“The Dinamite One”, par 5, 538 yds., hcp. 13. It is a not so long par 5, but very dangerous, because during your tee off you must place the ball in the middle of the fairway, having in mind that it is surrounded by palm trees on the right and water on the left, adding a humongous tramp at the beginning of the green at about 100 yards to avoid going up with two hits.

Hole #4,“The Triple Terrace”, par 4, 379 yds., hcp. 15. It is a par 4 with a narrow tee off where you have to place the ball on the right or left since at 110 yards in the middle of the fairway there are 2 palm trees guarding the hole. This green is better known as “The Tostada Green”, because it is made up of two levels and protected by an enormous tramp on the right.

Hole #5,“The Corner”, par 3, 183 yds., hcp. 17. We could mention that this is one of the most dificult holes in the course, but it is not, because it has an inmense sand tramp surrounding the green, plus water on the left.

Hole #6,“The Blind Hit”, par5, 532 yds., hcp. 3. Why “The Blind Hit”? If you are lucky enough during your tee off, your second hit will not allow you to see the green because mother nature has placed a well made hill at 100 yards. Also, the green is surrounded by sand tramps.

Hole #7,“The Bamboos”, par 4, 397 yds., hcp. 7. Making a dog-leg on the right and hitting a good tee off, you will have a second hit from about 130 yards, but the whole right side is covered with a sand tramp and bamboo trees from within.

Hole #8,“The Penninsula”, par 4, 392 yds., hcp. 7. With water on the left side, the second hit towards the green is the most complicated one because if you miss or go beyond, you will encounter a sand tramp on the left. This needs to be a very precise hit.

Hole #9,“The Wall”, par 3, 189 yds., hcp. 9. Looking at it from the tee, this is a hit that could make you feel like you are walking on a thin wire which hangs between two skyscrapers. The reason for this is because it has water on the left and the sand tramp on the right. You will need to fall on REGULATION or you will have to face the consequences since this is a hole that could terminate your score.

Hole #10,“Mount Suribachi”, par 4, 347 yds., hcp. 8. Being a narrow fairway, your tee off needs to be precise and your second hit towards the green needs to be elevated. This one finds itself surrounded by 4 sand tramps, therefore making it a flat and very small green which dares you for a challenging play.

Hole #11,“The Viewpoint”, par 5, 489 yds., hcp. 10. It is a relatively short hole which will allow you, with a good tee off, to go up the green with two hits, not forgetting, though, that this one has a sand tramp on the right and a grass tramp on the left, plus encountering the wind hitting against you.

Hole #12,“The Aqueduct”, par 4, 400 yds., hcp. 12. With a slight dog-leg on the left, your second hit will end up at about 140 yds. from a real big green with a gigantic tramp on the left.

Hole #13,“The Fig Tree”, par 3, 167 yds., hcp. 18. On the left from the tee off to the green, this one finds itself surrounded by water and an enormous fig tree giving off an illusion as if it was protecting the green.

Hole #14,“The Giant Rocks”, par 4, 356 yds., hcp. 4. This happens Being the hardest tee off, since it has a narrow window on the right, you will have the necessity of making “un tiro asesino” (killer hit) to reach your objective, because this one is surrounded by water. If this to be pulled to the left, you will end up with the incapability of dominating it. Behind this green, you will experience some gigantic rocks that are not willing to be defeated.

Hole #15,“The Snake”, par 5, 506 yds., hcp. 6. Your tee off is relatively easy. If you want to reach your goal with only two hits, then the second hit will be a thoughful one because at the green entrance, this one is being guarded by two enormous palm trees that if they happen to catch your ball it will be almost sure that they will end up in water.

Hole #16,“The Mangos”, par 4, 391 yds., hcp. 16. This is a straight par 4. With a good tee off, you will leave a second one at approximately 140 yards. The green is big, but with a narrow entrance and it is surrounded by mango trees, plus having the sand tramp on the right.

Hole #17,“The Beach”, par 4, 438 yds., hcp. 2. This is the longest par 4 from the whole golf course, with a dog-leg on the right and wind blowing at you from the Pacific Ocean. Your second hit will end up at approximately 200 yards from where you will then take on the green with an insecurity since the wind will try pulling your ball towards a river located on the right. This for sure is an extreme challenge for those golfers willing to be dared and to defeat and be victorious!

Hole #18,“The Mantaray”, par 3, 160 yds., hcp. 14. This is the golf course’s symbolic hole. You will get to experience the spectacular view of our gorgeous Las Hadas Hotel at the end of the green. You will have to make an exact and precise hit because you will need to cross part of the ocean, plus playing against the rough, but soft winds caressing your tired, but faithful body and spirit in order to achieve the goal of being on the green. This wonderful 18-hole tradition is to throw your ball to the sea and for sure you will come back!!!
